In comparing the list of names it is seen that some are no longer present on Griffiths that were on the tithes applotment. This can be for several reasons. A son in law may take over the holding in which case the surname will change.

Surnames that are gone are:

Burke

Cassidy

Cowlan

Gibbons

Heveran

In a Schedule of decrees obtained at Castlebar Quarter Sessions 23rd June 1838 MS 5742 Dominick Heveron of Kiltarnet was fined £1 9 3.5 with £0 7 0 costs. This was probably due to default in rents and may have been followed by eviction.

Lavelle

Limerick

McDonagh (There is a McDonnell in Griffiths. This may be the same name)

O'Donel

Stanton

In the unindexed O'Donel papers in the Manuscripts room of the National Library there is a lease:

PC263(2)/6 5th July 1854 1854 Sir Richard Annesley O’Donel John Bole of Castlebar townland of Kiltarnet 16 acres
