Note the mention of a National School established in 1832, attended by 60 boys and 50 girls, all catholics, situated in Cullinthra.

Situated on the east boundary of the S.E. quarter of the parish, 2 miles E. of Newport. It is bounded on the North by Derryloughran North; East by the parish of Kilrnaclasser; and South and West by Cuilmore and Derrycontoort West. The road from Newport to Castlebar lies across it.

The property of Sir Richd. A. O'Donnell, and contains 106a. 1r. 5 p., 69 acres of which are cultivated, 31 uncultivated and 7 bog. It is let to tenants at will at the yearly rent of 20s. per acre. Co. Cess, 3s. 4d. per acre yearly. The soil produces potatoes, corn, barley and flax. CuIlentragh lake is in this townland. A National School was established here in 1832, and the Board contributes £8 per annum. It is attended by 60 boys and 50 girls, all Catholics.

Situated on the east boundary of the S.E. quarter of the parish, about 2 miles East of Newport. It is bounded on the north by Derrycontoort West; South by Kilmaclasser parish; East by Derrycontoort East; and West by Lecarrow. The road from Newport to Westport lies through this townland.

It is the property of Sir Richard A. O'Donnell and contains 402s. 3r. 21p., including 21a, 1r. 1p. of water, 74 acres of bog and 19 acres of waste. It is let to tenants at will at 20s. per acre yearly. Co. Cess, 3s. 4d. per acre yearly. The soil produces potatoes, corn and flax. There are two lakes here, Cuilmore and Duffy's lake. There is also a national school.
