Convent of Mercy.
NEW CONVENT AT NEWPORT, COUNTY MAYO.
The Very Rev Father Greally, Newport, is at present in the city collecting funds for the completion of the Convent of Mercy at Newport and enlarging the chapel at Tiernaur. The district is a very poor one, and hence Father Greally is obliged to appeal to the generosity of the faithful outside his parish. The following is the copy of a letter which Father Greally has received from the Archbishop of Tuam "The Very Rev P Greally, P P, V F, Newport, in this diocese, has our full sanction to elicit the aid of the faithful towards completing the much needed Convent of Mercy at Newport, and enlarging the chapel of Tiernaar. The great poverty of the people of that district renders an application outside the district absolutely necessary to accomplish these objects. Any contributions given to Father Greally will be most judiciously expended. " * JOHN, Archbishop of Tuam.
